Zakynthos, you have treated me well. You are a haven of peace, romance, shimmering water, an embracing air and warm rays of sunshine. I will share your ten finest tips.

1. Discover undiscovered beaches

I already wrote extensively about your beautiful beaches. I will not repeat them all, but everyone does have to go there. They would all agree that your incredibly beautiful beaches are irresistable. Ultimate happiness. To find out about your most beautiful beaches I refer everyone to this article. Because hell, they’re mighty fine.

2. Have dinner at the Sunset Taverna

More hotspot than this you won’t find them. Your most beautiful tavern is located in Keri, one of your most beautiful Greek villages in the Southwest. Surrounded by flowers this open-air restaurant radiates. In front, a wrinkly old man is roasting a lamb, the wine is calling for me and you serve me the most tasty Greek delicacies. Insanely good.

3. Turn off the Sun on the cliff at Keri Lighthouse

Need I say more? You did surprise me with this spot, Zakynthos. When I drove to the lighthouse and the cliffs in Keri, I end upon one of your most beautiful secrets: an old caravan serving drinks and snacks in a field full of hay bales to sit on, located on the edge of your impressive cliffs. Here I enjoyed one of your memorable sunsets.

4. Get lost in olive groves

I was wandering through your endless olive groves and couldn’t get enough of it. One tree is even more impressive than the other. I cuddled with soft goats, walked through endless fields of gold and sought shade under your century-old trees.

5. Road tripping

Something that everyone should do to ultimate enjoy your island. Rent a car. I chose the Corendon Fly & Go option, upon arrival a car was ready for us.We drove from left to right and top to bottom through sandy roads and rocky winding paths. In the end, we have seen all of you. We found out about your most beautiful little secrets using a Greek map and I will tell them to everyone else. Sorry.

6. Play Bond Girl on a speedboat

We rented a speedboat and I felt like a shining Bond Girl at its best. With the wind playing with my hair I flew above your clear blue water, staring at white beaches surrounded by powerful chalk cliffs.

7. Count Greek villages

Innumerable. You have thousands of them, each one cuter than the other. Flowers blow unperturbed fresh scents in my face, dogs are hopping around wagging their tails and brightly colored doors appear around every corner. Greece at his finest.

8. Go shopping in Zakynthos town

Your heart, Zakynthos town, is lovely. Proud churches alternate with pleasant shopping streets and I buy, not surprising, a dress. A nice change from your beautiful nature.

9. Have lunch at the Porto Limnionas Taverna

One more hotspot then. The tavern at one of my favorite beaches (Porto Limnionas) turns out to be a welcome surprise. The sight of your Greek dishes makes my heart skip a beat and I eat pounds of tzatziki. Lunch here is a must, just like enjoying your beautiful Porto Limnionas.

Heerlijke post om bij weg te dromen. Altijd leuk om eraan herinnerd te worden dat je niet eens zover weg hoeft te gaan om zo’n authentieke plekjes te vinden. Zo’n mediterraan huisje versierd met bloemen en blauwe luiken blijft toch een grote droom! Prachtige foto’s en prachtige tips!

  Dankjewel, en inderdaad! Ik vind Europa ook zo mooi. Er zijn ook dichterbij echt idyllische, tropische en bijzondere plekjes te vinden! :)

Geweldig om te lezen. Een klein eilandje waar zoveel bijzonders te beleven valt en moois te zien is. Het lijkt me echt een prachtig eiland om een keer te bezoeken. :)

Wat fijn om te zien dit! Ik krijg gewoon heimwee naar Griekenland terwijl ik nooit op Zakynthos ben geweest. Staat echt hoog op mijn lijstje dit… maar voor nu alleen om over te dromen :)

Aah, wij twijfelden tussen Zakynthos en Rhodos deze zomer en gingen voor Rhodos (echt nét geboekt). Zakynthos lijkt me zo mooi, zeker op het lijstje voor een volgende keer! :) Liefs, Rowan

Griekenland is sowieso genieten <3
Prachtige foto's weer. Daar wordt een mens blij van! Wil er zeker een keer naartoe. Als het om Griekenland gaat, staan Zakynthos en de Cycladen bovenaan m'n lijstje! Ennuh, welk jurkje heb je daar gekocht? Staat ie ook ergens op één van de foto's?
Ik had trouwens sandaaltjes laten maken op Skiathos, zo leuk!

  Jaaa, Griekenland is fijn! Ik heb zelfs ooit op Kreta gewerkt voor een paar maanden, haha. Jaaa, die strandjurk op de zonsondergang foto (schijnt door, over je bikini maar kan ook met zwart onderjurkje). Oooo, sandaaltjes laten maken? Klinkt heel tof (ik zie hele mooie, bewerkte leren sandaaltjes voor me nu!)

    Waar vind ik dat plekje met die hooibalen voor zonsondergang? Ik kan alleen iets vinden over een keri lighthouse, maar als een restaurant. En zo oogt het niet op de foto met die caravan 😄

      Yes, dat plekje zat echt zo’n beetje naast de lighthouse, links! Bij de klif. Ik hoop dat het er nog is, het was een soort foodtruck :)
