Last month I spent my afternoon at the ‘Rawsome’ food café in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Together with my friend Mandy (also a healthy food lover) I went on a voyage of discovery within the ‘raw food’ concept. Hot and happening, but also incredibly healthy. Raw food is natural and unprocessed food that is prepared at 42 degrees or less.
Rawsome opened her doors in August an owner Sharon has an enormous passion for healthy food. After her own search for healthy food for years because of an allergy and a workshop ‘raw food’ she was amazed: she said goobye to her job, followed her heart and Rawsome was born. A raw food café full of cosy jars filled with healthy products, a cosy lounge corner and vintage chairs, fresh flowers on the table, a bar of an old-fashioned sports school floor and a cabinet with products to take home.
Rawsome mainly works with local organic products and the menu of the day is written daily on a blackboard. All dishes are gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free and in addition to delicious organic products she uses well known superfoods as well. We enjoyed a delicious tasting with savoury and sweet dishes. Curly kale chips and banana bread, flax seed crackers with raisins and pumpkin, curry pâté with cashew nuts, coconut balls and so on: raw food is delicious. A wheat grass shot later we feel enormously healthy and pampered, and I am very enthusiastic about this concept.
