3 friends (Rick Mereki, Tim White and Andrew Read), 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 61 thousand miles traveled, two cameras and a terabyte of video images. That resulted in three fantastic and powerful videos, each with its own story. I’m getting excited by these movies because these are the three things that makes travel my passion: MOVE, EAT and LEARN.
Move. To be on the move. I think that is the most beautiful thing there is. Every day you can experience something else, something new and unknown. The unexpected new cultures. You don’t know where you’re going to end up but you keep on wondering, it is just you and your own thoughts during movement and you grow while you unknowingly experiencing new wisdoms.
Eat. An important part of our travels is food. We are always looking for local eateries and cuisine, try all different things and traditions. You won’t find us in Western restaurants, but most likely somewhere along the street next to a a barbecue in some local street. We eat at peoples homes, sitting cross-legged with a pile of rice in our hand. Or with a banana leaf filled with localmade nasi in the jungle. Or just having a cocktail and fresh coconut with satay on the beach.
Learn. Each trip gets me each time. I come home with a fuller heart and always I feel a little different. I once explained what traveling teaches me in a blogspot, so in short: traveling brings me hope. Independence. Gratitude. Luck. Insight. Understanding. Positivity. Flexibility. Appreciation. It shows me the world. And especially teaches me to understand the world.
I know I just got back from Jordan but these movies trace me again to unfold the maps, pack my bag and go. It screams at my bubbling wanderlust and sometimes it is more the trip where I look forward to instead of thee destination itself.
