Because ofa lateflightwe missthe lastferryboatfrom Ibiza toFormentera.We chartera localwith aspeedboatandwithflowingwhite hairI fly over the ocean, like a trueBond girl. The stars andwaveslead me to Formentera inthe middle of the nightandwhen I finally havesolid groundunder my feet, I start breathing again. Islandsoil.
The next day, I join thehippiesof the island driving a redVespaand I explore this little paradisewith a big smile onmy face.My nickname, little hippie, feels at home hereand I feel simply amazing.Next tothe lighthouse ofEs Cap de BarbariaI heardrums.The inhabitants of the islandannounce thesunset.Long dreads are dancing on the music, waves are clashingagainst the rocks and as thedrum roll continues, Ilose myselfherein this very moment.SometimesIwould just like to join these vibrant people and livesuch acarefreeislandlife.
Icrossthe inlands and countcountlessolive trees, wheat fields,rustyvintage cars andabandonedcabins.I see avineyardand taste thewines atTerramol. Tastes likemore.Fishermensortingtheircatch inhouseand waving tome.I see surfboards all around and I decide to discover the city ofSanFrancescXavier.The whitewashedhouses arefrankedbypink flowers,handmadejewelry and clothing call mefromthe colorfulshop windows andI eata delicious mealatthe beautiful restaurant of EsMares.I decide I want to get marriedhere someday.
The coastbeckons.Onthis small islandI amsurrounded by sea.I travel from left to right anddiscover beach afterbeach.The waterhas as manyshades of blueas the CaribbeanSea,I would never guess to find this so close at home. There is no mass tourismhere.I enjoy thesilence, walk through the white sandand put a toein the water.Cold, though.TheLas Salinasnature reservesteals myheart,as well as thebeaches of Es Cavalld’en Borràsand EsCaló d’esMort.On the other side of the islandI discoversteep precipices. Seagullsdiveinto the depthsand a warm sea breezesweepsgentlydown myskin.Little by little,I fallin love.
The daysfly by like a dream and onthe lastevening, I take placeon a beachchair withsea view atCala Saona.The sun dropsand paintsthe waterorange. While sipping mywhite wineI seea dolphinjump and play in the distance.This trip could not have ended any better than this. I feel at ease.
